Audio clips and sound bites play a key role in the production of a news story, and can raise the story to a new level.

Research shows that the television interviews which attract the most attention are usually question and answer segments (Alysen, 2012).

When people are reading an article it’s often easy for them to quickly lose interest if the article goes on for too long, and adding an audio soundbite or quote into the article helps stop that (Alysen, 2012).

Learning how to use these audio pieces in our newswriting is key to helping us build our news writing skills, and create more attractively readable articles in the future.
