In journalism the way you gather and source your information is quite important as not using proper resources can lead to severe consequences.

Currently in journalism one in four stories on T.V. news features user generated content, and making sure that user generated content is reliable is key (Wunsch-Vincent & Vickery, 2007).

User generated content played a key role in relaying information during the Boston bombings, but also highlighted the risks and false information that can be spread through it (Wunsch-Vincent & Vickery, 2007).

Using user generated content that may not be correct can lead to the publicity of wrong information which could even lead to viewers losing trust in the journalist and news network.
