The importance of having a widely diverse newsroom filled with people of different cultures, sexual orientation, and physical abilities cannot be understated.

Upon reading Tara Ross's chapter Inclusive Journalism, it's clear to see the vast benefits a diverse newsroom can have.

Having a diverse newsroom can help reporters engage more with the stories and the people involved in the stories, as well as giving the viewers a better understanding of the story (Hannis, 2014).

Examples of this could include a Maori reporter reporting on current affairs relating to Maori people, or a physically challenged reporter reporting on current affairs in that criteria (Hannis, 2014).
